Deanna Wiessenhaus is a Portland-based self-taught artist. She begins each piece by choosing the subject matter out of a carefully curated collection of resources. Deanna is inspired by the beauty of the world around her. Recurring themes show up in her work like her friends and family, places she’s visited, and local fauna and flora. In recent works, Deanna has taken to using silhouette shapes as inspiration. 

The key to Deanna’s process is fun. Deanna translates her experiences in the world into playfully bright abstractions. Primarily a 2-dimensional artist, Deanna looks forward to expanding her practice into 3-dimensional media.
